Coquille Master Planning Web Site Launched

Public Feedback and Information Portal Integral to Master Planning Process
Covalent Logic launched a new Web site as part of St. Tammany Recreation District 14 (RD14)'s master planning process reflecting the community’s commitment to improving the quality of life in the region. Beginning with a vision statement, which will shape future decisions, the master plan process then includes completing an inventory and assessment of the existing facilities and programs currently offered by RD14. This step is followed by stakeholder input, which then informs the development of both a long-range development plan and site specific development recommendations.

Existing Recreation and Site Inventory and Assessment
.
The first phase of work is an assessment of existing recreational facilities and programs both provided by RD14 and other recreation providers within the parish. This information is represented on the St. Tammany Parish Recreation Inventory map. An assessment of current RD14 recreation facilities compared to the American Park Association standards for recreational facilities, will help identify the immediate and long term needs of the community. Stakeholder Input and Programming The next step in planning involves stakeholder input. RD14 board members, staff, representatives of the Madisonville Youth Boosters, and the public will evaluate the recreational needs and desires of the community. Public input will be will gathered at a community planning workshop and through an online survey. Input on desired programs and facilities collected in this phase of work will assist the planning team in developing a realistic program for implementation.

Site Master Plan Development.
The third phase of work will be the creation of a long-range development plan for RD14. This will include the development of preliminary plans for review and approval of the layout of proposed facilities. This phase of development will end with a public presentation and final modifications to the approved master plan. The final Site Master Plan will include projected development schedules and financial projections, which will be useful tools in pursuing financial assistance and grants.

Identity and Promotion.
As part of the overall planning effort, the RD14 Board participated in a rigorous internal review process in order to determine the best organizational structure going forward. The evaluation included methodology for determining organizational and operational needs as well as how to develop and manage all programming going forward. The identity and promotion phase of the master plan will include logo and tagline creation along with a graphic language to be used throughout all RD14 print and web based communications.
