Stafford Wood Receives Top Honor in Lifetime Achievement at PRAL-BR Red Stick Awards

The Public Relations Association of Louisiana Baton Rouge Chapter (PRAL-BR) recognized Stafford Wood, Covalent Logic founder and president, with its First Circle Award on Friday, April 12, at its annual Professional Achievement and Red Stick Awards at the Lod Cook LSU Alumni Center. The First Circle Award is PRAL-BR’s highest and most prestigious honor for lifetime achievement in public relations.

“I am deeply honored to have been nominated by this year’s PRAL-BR President, Cheryl Michelet, to receive an award first given in the 1980s to her father-in-law, who was a Louisiana public relations legend,” said Wood. “There are too many to thank individually, but this recognition comes as a result of both successes and failures with my PRAL tribe, my Covalent team and the many clients who have partnered with me over the years.”

Wood leads a team of nearly 30 communications professionals to serve global, regional and national clients in internal communications, graphic design, web development and public relations. She is a Senior Practitioner from the Southern Public Relations Federation and received the Goldsby Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Advertising Federation – Baton Rouge Chapter in 2019. Wood and her firm have amassed more than 200 awards in her nearly 25-year career, including Adrians, Anvils, ADDYs, Bulldogs, Hermes, Lanterns, Magellans, MarComs, Quills, Stevies, Tellys, Thoths and VEMAs. She was recognized in the 2011 class of the Baton Rouge Business Report’s “Top Forty Under 40.”

PRAL-BR also recognized the best industry achievement in each of 10 categories with a Red Stick Award. Covalent Logic’s Courtney Greathouse and Margo Jolet received Red Stick Awards for their work in the category of collateral material and digital, respectively. Greathouse executed a strategic plant signage plan to increase safety and reduce accidents among the 4,000 team members who work at the Shell Chemical LP Geismar plant. Jolet lead a team in the development of an online newsroom to garner more media placements for Hilton Worldwide corporate and brand news.

“Our team continues to help our clients tackle their most difficult business challenges, exceed their objectives and earn the admiration of their peers, employees and consumers alike. Receiving awards from prestigious groups like PRAL is a delightful bonus,” said Wood. “At Covalent Logic, we have been fortunate to generously garner both client business success and industry recognition.”
