The Stephenson Disaster Management Institute at Louisiana State University — which is dedicated to researching and improving each phase of disaster response, from pre-event preparedness through post-event, long-term recovery — was charged with developing improved disaster response and recovery processes for the state of Louisiana as part of the international “Making Cities Resilient: My City is Getting Ready” report. Hazard mitigation would not only address immediate issues the state faces, but would greatly reduce the impact of future disasters, therefore increasing resident safety, lowering state recovery expenditures and increasing resiliency. Covalent Logic was hired to aid these efforts with strategic communication, copywriting and design, as well as interactive website development. Covalent Logic’s state-of-the-art website design was instrumental in strengthening the administration’s preparedness response and relaying SDMI’s work to the general public, while facilitating partnerships and research opportunities with industry experts across the world.
