Quantify your Web site content

It's hard to quantify writing goals -- normally you're just going for quality. However, there are a few tests for whether or not your Web content is appropriate for a general Web audience. James V. Smith, Jr. (Fiction Writer's Brainstormer) suggests the following as his "Writing Ideal Standard":

A quick online test is an easy way to determine how you score - there's a good one at: http://juicystudio.com/services/readability.php#readweb

If you use Microsoft Word as your word processor, all you have to do is run a spelling and grammar check (under Tools - Options - Spelling and Grammar, make sure you select the box that says "Show readability statistics"). When the check is over, Word gives you the numbers, which you can use as guidelines.

Either way, it's a nice way to check and see how your content scores.
